With the Paragliding World Championships coming up in January, I went thru the process of performing a well needed site UPGRADE. I bit the bullet and dug in deep to upgrade the theme from a v4 to a v5 theme.
Drupal upgrades are always tough due to module and theme support in the new versions. You hate to give up any features of your site (modules) or change the look of it (theme). 100% module support was there this time (since Drupal 5 has been out for two years) but it was the theme that was abandoned by the originator and I heavily altered it when I used it...so I was on my own.
I was surprised how well it went and I've contributed the updated theme back to the Drupal community in hopes other could use it.
The reason for the upgrade was that I wanted to make sure the site stayed active and more importantly, secure. Also I wanted to add a 'new' feature so you can donate online to the team's efforts. It's integrated with Paypal and shows up-to-the-second donations with no work needed to be done from an admin stand-point.
